Summary
S. Boninelli obtained the Ph.D. in Physics (cum laude) at the University of Catania (Italy) in 2005, working in the research group of Prof. F. Priolo. She was involved in the structural characterization of silicon nanostructures for the realization of light emitting devices. During the following two years, she had a postdoc fellowship on "TEM study of defects in Si", at the institute CEMES-CNRS in Toulouse (France) in the research group of Dr. Alain Claverie. From 2008 to 2009 she has been "Team Leader" at the Italian Institute of Techology in Genoa (Italy) where she was involved in the realization of SEM and TEM labs. In 2007 she received the Young researcher award from Accademia Gioenia of Catania (Italy).
Nowadays she is responsible of the SEM laboratory in the institute IMM-CNR UOS Catania. Her research activity is devoted to the comprehension of the structural properties of Si and Ge-based thin films for microelectronics and nanostructured materials, such as Si and Ge nanocrystals and nanowires, for photonics and photovoltaic application. She is co-author of about 45 scientific papers, 2 chapters of books dedicated to silicon microphotonics and referee of different international scientific journals.
